Always wanted to go backpacking but didn't know where to start? This program will tell you how to pack and what to leave behind. Itinerary to include two 3-mile hikes, a trip up Panola Mountain, bird watching and primitive overnight camping. Participants should bring all food and camping equipment. Join us for an enchanted evening as we hike to the mountaintop under the full moon. We'll head out just before sunset and enjoy the stroll as the moon begins to rise. Bring flashlights, hiking boots and water. Meet at the nature center 15 minutes before each program. Register in advance.

Join a Park Ranger and help us broadcast native grass seed on a prepared seed bed. All ages welcome, and volunteers can work as long as they like. There will be service learning as well, including what types of birds, butterflies and Dragonflies use this diverse habitat.

Learn simple techniques for not getting lost and keeping track of your family when venturing into the great outdoors of Georgia. Search and Rescue Dog Team will be joining the class unless a SAR activity is occurring. Meeting at the nature center. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early.

Join us "on rope" for an adventure exploring the canopy above. Participants will use rope and harness for this moderately strenuous activity. One group will start at 1PM; another group will start at 3PM. Please arrive 15 minutes before each program. Register in advance. $15 plus $5 parking.

Join us aloft for a tranquil night in the canopy as you lay in your “tree-boat,” viewing stars glimmering like diamonds in the sky. A treetop bivouac camp will be established in our secluded climbing tree for an overnight experience.

This 5-day program will introduce kids ages 6-12 to the wonders of the outdoors. Activities include hiking, fishing, frog hunting, bug catching, bird watching, craft making, geocaching, orienteering and more. Bring lunch and snacks. Badge ceremony and family picnic will be held July 13 at 11:30.
